The process I know for when PGI is done is only after Picking, packing and loading is complete. (Correct me if I am wrong!)
Our client has bar code scanners implemented in their infrastructure which they use to scan each and every material before dispatching.
The process that we will be following in the case would be like this:
Outbound delivery-> Picking List generated-> Picking(using scanner where GI is automatically triggered) with PGI -> Packing -> Loading.
Does this make sense?
If yes, which would be the earliest point to which a PGI can be done? Can it be done before picking as well?
