Copy data from SAP CRM Service Request to an ERP work order in CRM

Hi Experts

Got a kinda peculiar (for me) requirement in my current project got the following requirements:-

1. Based on the multi level categorization of the Service Request it should create or allow creation of the relevant Work Order type (ERP work order) as a follow up transaction and also copy some of the data over. This is to be done in the IC scenario where the agent creates the Service request to identify the type of work and then calls Transaction launcher or GUI for windows (preferable) to create the ERP Work Order.

Any thoughts how this can be achieved?

The only way I can think of is a copy control badi implementation but curious if anyone knows a better way.
